Beryl has been directing tv drama and comedy for 20 years. She specialises in working with young and untrained actors. In TV she has helped create many popular UK series, for which she has been awarded three BAFTA’s, an RTS, a British Comedy Award, the Prix Jeunesse, and two International EMMY nominations. Her recent credits are My Life; Wild at Heart; Leonardo and Perfect World. Past credits include My Parents are Aliens; My Life as a Popat; Girls in Love, Linda Green and Spitting Image. Beryl also regularly makes short films for the cinema, which have been shown in competition in 50 international festivals, including Berlin and Clemont Ferrand.

Beryl first came into tv as a writer/director and has since written three feature scripts. Her first screenplay ‘The Outsiders’ was awarded the Talent Campus screenwriting prize at the Berlin Film Festival. Previous to freelance television and film work Beryl founded and ran an independent production company for 8 years.

Beryl also works part time for the European Broadcasting Union in Geneva, executive producing a worldwide co-production of kids short films.

Beryl studied a BA in Media Studies at Westminster University; an MA in Film at Central St Martins; and a Screenwriting MA at the London College of Communication
