Championing and empowering film and television directors
Roger Michell, the Notting Hill director and former Chair of the Directors UK Film Committee, appeared on the Radio 4 programme Front Row yesterday evening (16th January), to give his views on Lord Smith's Film Policy Review.
Roger, who has recently directed the upcoming Hyde Park on Hudson, gave his approval to the document, and called the suggestion of making directors, writers and producers stakeholders in their own success "radical". Roger was joined in the studio by Lord Smith himself, who answered questions on some of the proposals found in the report, including the need for broadcasters Sky and ITV to begin investing in film production.
