Twickenham Studios reportedly finds buyer

News has emerged that a proposed purchaser for Twickenham Studios has been found with the intention to continue its use as a film and sound studio.

Administrators for Twickenham Studios, which has been under threat of closure and sale, have announced today that an unidentified purchaser has been found. According to Gerald Krasner, administrator for the studios, "It is the purchaser's intention to continue to trade as studios and to preserve all the jobs."

The news follows a high profile campaign to save Twickenham Studios from being sold to property developers. The studios has been in operation for 99 years, with films such classics as Ghandi, Italian Job, Shirley Valentine, Help and a Hard Day's Night, along with more modern hits like The Iron Lady and War Horse, all being filmed there.

Directors UK supports the campaign to save the studios, with its long and illustrious British film history, and welcomes the news that potential industry purchasers have been found. To sign the Save Twickenham Film Studios petition, click here.
