Welcome to the new Directors UK

For the first time in its history, Directors UK has opened its doors to not just film and television directors but to all screen directors, working in any medium.  It marks Directors UK’s transition to becoming the single professional organisation supporting and campaigning on behalf of all directors in the UK, and with that change comes a brand new website.

The launch of the new Directors UK Membership Scheme aims to unite directors working in all forms of audio-visual media into an even stronger, self-supporting, creative community, and the website will play an intergral part in doing so.

There are a whole host of exciting new features for members to take advantage of, including:

  • Enhanced Profiles, with social networking capabilities such as messaging and following;
  • Public blogs, allowing members to keep peers and followers up-to-date and interested in that latest project;
  • The Advice Centre, which includes information and resources on legal issues, employment and directors’ rights;
  • Technology reviews, where members can get insider info on the latest products and kit from their fellow directors. You can even submit your own!
  • Videos from events, so you never have to miss a masterclass, panel session or Q&A again;
  • Podcasts, or audio interviews with established and up-and-coming directors alike.
  • And, from early next year, the Find a Director search, which will enable members to make themselves known to potential employers, and ensure producers, commissioning editors and production executives know your credits, credentials and availability to work.

And this is just a taster. The website will support, assist and enhance the careers of all directors, from those just starting out to the multi-award winners, but you need to join the new Directors UK Membership Scheme to access all these great new features.

Directors UK has broadened its membership base from film and television to include directors working in new media, games, music videos, commercials, corporate, short films, as well as emerging talent in the form of student membership. Whichever media you work in or aspire to, and however advanced you are in your career, the new Directors UK website is a resource that can benefit all directors.
