Membership

Directors UK has changed. Since our origins as a collecting society we have been improving what we can offer our directors. Now we believe we can provide the complete service to our members, and we want to let you know about it.

Now open to all screen directors

Previously Directors UK has only been available for those working in film and television. But directors now work in an increasing number of mediums  and it is time we reflected this.  So Directors UK is now open to all screen directors working in any medium, from new media to short films, music videos to commercials. We are also offering a student membership- and at a discounted rate.

Network, knowledge, support and campaigning

But it's not just who we represent that is changing, it's what we do for our members too. Directors UK will offer a fuller and more varied events calendar, from classic screenings to networking drinks, camera masterclasses to short film competitions. We'll provide an exclusive mentoring scheme, giving up-and-coming directors the chance to learn from some of the best in the business.

We know how difficult and time-consuming negotiating contracts can be, so for the first time there will be legal advice available to members. And we also have this brand new website, featuring videos from events, podcasts, technology reviews and public profiles, which will put members in touch with potential employers.

Directors UK collects and distributes money due to directors for secondary exploitation of their works. We campaign for better rights and conditions, and our Management Board, elected annually by our members, are all film and television directors who meet regularly to discuss issues facing members. We are a not-for-profit organisation, and currently have over 4,000 directors registered as members with us.

Just £120 per year

All this and more will be available on a subscription basis, with full members paying just £10 a month, and students only £5. Here and across the website you’ll see what members who sign up to this can expect; once you’ve seen what’s on offer, we’re confident you will want to be a part of it.

Directors UK has changed, into an organisation that can provide support, advice and opportunities in everything a director does. Now all we need is you.
