Directors UK Online Coaching Support with Alec McPhedran

We are pleased to announce new one-hour confidential coaching sessions to help you work through ideas, challenges and personal development.

Working with professional creative sector coach Alec McPhedran, this is a great opportunity for Directors UK members to speak to someone outside of their normal network about the hurdles they face and how to overcome them. This support can be on developing an idea, focussing on growing your career, or thinking through a work-related challenge or issue, with a focus on your own personal development.

What is coaching?

Coaching is a one-to-one confidential discussion focusing on what you would like to explore and generating ideas for moving forward. Essentially the coach guides the conversation with open ended questions, allowing you to use your knowledge and experience to generate ideas and outcomes. It can be as challenging as you like. The aim of the conversation is to guide you to a set of post-discussion actions that move you forward from where you are now to where you want to be. It is a confidential, open, honest professional development discussion. It is, however, not counselling, therapy or consultancy. The approach is centred around personal development, rather than professional or technical discussions.

How the sessions work

Around two or three days before the coaching call, members will need to send a short outline to Alec on what they would like to discuss, and perhaps a goal or clear focus of what you would like to achieve reasonably within the hour.

The session is completely confidential and no information is fed back to Directors UK or anyone else. Following the call, participants may well receive a few feedback questions from Directors UK checking on the use and value of the coaching session.

The sessions will take place on Wednesday 13 May, with exact timings to be announced.

How to apply

Please email Directors UK at [email protected], including the following:

  • An up to date CV
  • A personal statement explaining the current challenges you'd like to address, and the personal development you'd like to explore in the session. Why do you need this right now?

Before you send your application through, we recommend you read our Career Development team's application tips.
