Encounters Festival: Directors UK partnership, member discount and panel

Reading time: 1 minutes and 38 seconds

Encounters, the UK’s leading short film and animation festival, is taking place next week and Directors UK is delighted to be the official main partner for the Widening the Lens Competition, a major new initiative forming part of the festival.

Widening the Lens is a pitching competition for short films addressing diversity. The new initiative, open to filmmakers from under-represented groups, aims to help tackle the lack of diversity within the film industry both in front of and behind the camera, and create an exciting opportunity for new and emerging filmmakers, offering them invaluable professional development.

The winner of the Widening the Lens Award will be presented by Abigail Berry, Directors UK Member Services and Events Manager, as part of the prestigious Encounters Festival Awards Ceremony on Saturday 24 September.
