Invitation to Creative Freelancers: Contribute to the CIF Freelancer Employment Survey

Reading time: 1 minutes and 23 seconds

One in seven workers in the UK is self employed, and nearly half of workers in the creative industries are freelance — but for some, this workforce is still a mystery. A new CIF survey can help give it a voice.

Directors UK is working alongside the Creative Industries Federation (CIF) as part of our Creative Freelancer campaign, in order to provide a better understanding of this often underappreciated workforce.

Through extensive research, the CIF intends to map the contribution of self-employed and freelance workers. This will then help to properly inform policy-makers, and provide advice towards improving areas where workers’ interests have been neglected. This survey is the first step towards making it happen.

If you are a freelance or self-employed creative, we invite you to complete Survey 1. We also encourage you to share this survey with your friends and colleagues — all answers are completely confidential, and you will not be contacted without your permission.

Directors UK will continue to work with the CIF to make sure that our members’ views and interests are well represented in their research. Our Creative Freelancer campaign will also provide members with regular updates of our lobbying of the government and the industry.
