Skyfall screens to full house of directors

Reading time: 1 minutes and 28 seconds

The D-UK/DGA joint screening of Skyfall took place in front of a packed audience of directors last Monday, and was followed by a Q&A between two of the most successful British directors working today: Sam Mendes and Paul Greengrass.

Members from both Directors UK and the Directors Guild of America arrived at BAFTA in anticipation of this hugely oversubscribed event, keen to see the film that’s been dubbed the “best Bond ever” by reviewers and cinemagoers alike.

And it did not disappoint! Skyfall finished to huge applause from those in attendance, but that was by no means the end of the event. As the credits drew to a close, D-UK CEO Andrew Chowns welcomed the film’s director Sam Mendes on to the stage, followed by D-UK President Paul Greengrass, who was on-hand to ask the questions.

The Q&A, which was recorded by ProMotion, included a discussion on the appropriateness of the film’s ‘Britishness’ in the year of London 2012, the variation in style between Mendes’ Bond and Greengrass’ Bourne movies concerning action sequences, and a range of questions from audience members. You will be able to watch it on this site in the coming weeks.

Members from both organisations then took to the David Lean Room, for drinks and a detailed discussion on what they had just witnessed.

We very much hope those of you who were able to attend the event enjoyed yourselves. You can see photos from the evening below (click here if you are unable to see them).
