Biography

James Hughes has directed over 200 actors, including Emmy® Winners and BAFTA Winners.

His short films have screened at over 300 film festivals, including Oscar and BAFTA Qualifying ones. 

He has been a Speaker for BAFTA and the Screenwriting Expo in Los Angeles, where he taught a popular class on filmmaking, working alongside such luminaries as William Goldman.

His latest short film release SONAR is out now on the festival circuit. 

James is now in post-production on his next short film release, CHAIRS, starring two BAFTA winning leads. It will be released this spring. 

He is also developing his feature film debut.

A BAFTA Qualifying film that won 20 awards at 60 Film Festivals, a one in three win ratio. It was also selected as one of the 4 best films of the year at the Sky TV televised National Film Awards. 2017
The Velvet Abstract Short Film View
Description Year
Narrated by the Emmy Winner Tobias Menzies. The film was invited by BAFTA to be part of an environmental day at the Princess Anne Theatre, where James was a Speaker on stage for a Q&A about the film. The film screened at over 100 international film festivals, winning 40 awards in the process. 2016

Duran Duran - Anniversary View
Description
Hired as the Location Manager and on set Producer by the band in September 2021 to run the shoot of their latest music video. Shot in a castle, with Aston Martins on set, and over 100 in the cast.
