A Guide to Signing the Directors Licensing Scheme Collection Agreement

Reading time: 6 minutes and 35 seconds

So, you’re ready to sign the Directors Licensing Scheme (DLS) Collection Agreement.

Signing the DLS Collection Agreement online couldn’t be easier. It takes just a few clicks and all you’ll need with you to complete the form is a good quality scan/photo of your proof of ID and home address.

But if you need some more help, we’ve created this handy step-by-step guide to the online signing process.

Before you sign

As mentioned above, all you’ll need with you is a photo or scan of a good quality scan/photo of your proof of ID and home address. There’s also a section that asks how you’d like us to pay you your royalties, so please have your bank details to hand.

If possible, please sign up using the email address you have registered with Directors UK.

Signing the document

1. Entering your name and email address

Once you click on the link you’ll be greeted by the screen below, which prompts you to enter your name and email address. Please try and use the email address you already have registered with Directors UK. The details you enter here will be automatically added to the DLS Collection Agreement when you come to sign it.

After you’ve filled out those two fields click the red Begin Signing button.

2. Verifying your email address

You will then be sent an email like the one below. This contains a verification code that will allow you to access the DLS Collection Agreement itself. If the email doesn’t arrive within a couple of minutes, make sure you check your spam folder. You may need to add [email protected] to your safe senders list

Make a note of the code, and either return to your open signing window to enter the code where prompted or click the Resume Signing button in the email.

3. Accessing the DLS Collection Agreement

You will now have access to the DLS Collection Agreement and will be able to see the page below.

Before you start you’ll be asked to tick a box at the top of the page saying that you agree to use an electronic signature. Once you’ve ticked that you’re ready to sign!

4. Reading the DLS Collection Agreement

You’ll find a big red button marked Start at the top of the document – if you click on this it will guide you through the document, navigating you directly to the sections where you’re required to enter information.

However, rather than just clicking through to the parts you need to fill in, we do recommend that you scroll down and read the contract in full before you sign – particularly the introduction page, which highlights some important information.

5. Your contact details

These details are required to complete your registration with us, and will be stored on your member file as your personal details for us to contact you and pay your distribution payments. Please note all of these details are required in order for you to complete signing, except for Name used on director credits (if different) — this is optional.

6. Your royalty payment details

The next section is entitled How Would You Like Us to Pay You Your Royalties and you will need to select one of the three options in order to complete the form.

If you’d like us to pay you using your UK bank details then please select Pay me using my UK bank details and then fill out the additional four fields that appear: Bank/Branch, Account Name, Sort Code and Account Number.

If you’d like to be paid through your agent then select the Pay me via my agent option and fill out the two resultant fields: Agent and Agency.

And if you’d like us to pay you using a foreign bank account then select the final option, Pay me via a foreign bank account, and once you’ve finished signing the DLS Collection Agreement we ask that you contact us at [email protected] to discuss this further.

7. Signing the DLS Collection Agreement

You now have to electronically sign the contract – you do this by clicking on the button marked Sign. You can sign the document either by drawing your own signature using a mouse cursor, stylus or touchpad, or the form can generate a signature for you.

Once you’ve got a signature you’re happy with, click Adopt and Sign.

8. Attaching your photo ID

Almost there! At the end of the document, you are asked to attach some photo identification. You do this by clicking on the paperclip icon. Please attach proof of official ID along with proof of your current home address (the same as the one you’ve provided on your agreement) – so either:

a) your driving licence, which can serve as both proof of ID and address (providing the address is current)

OR

b) your passport, plus a separate proof of home address (i.e. a recent council tax/TV licence/energy statement).

If you would like to re-attach the image or attach a different one simply click on the paperclip icon again, click on the cross next to the file you previously uploaded, and then upload your new file.

Please make sure this is a good quality scan/photo so that we can process it quickly.

9. Completing the signing process

Once you’ve completed all the necessary fields, please take some time to review the document and make sure all your details are correct before you click the Finish button either at the bottom of the document or on the top right of the page. The form will not let you click Finish until you’ve provided all the required information.

And you’re done! You now have the option to download a copy of your signed DLS Collection Agreement, but a copy will also be emailed to you.

Thank you for signing the DLS Collection Agreement

If you close the document at any point, you can return to it by clicking the Resume Signing link in the email you received when you first entered your name and email address (see above). Your details will be securely stored until the next time you login (however, they will be permanently deleted if you do not complete the form within 28 days).
