Following this month’s successful open meeting in Glasgow, Directors UK member AJ Sykes has written this message about the next steps for Directors UK members in Scotland.

On Tuesday the 15th of January Directors UK Scotland had an open meeting where we discussed how we, as Scottish directors, should proceed. With a great turn out of members it was unanimously decided that we should meet at the first possible date to discuss the best strategy forward and create a committee of members focussing on directors living and working in Scotland.

With so much happening in Scotland at the moment, a new Screen Unit; Two Film Studios being proposed; a new Scottish BBC Channel and one of Channel 4’s Creative Hubs being based in Glasgow, we have a golden opportunity to come together and take advantage of this very productive time.

Whether you work in film, TV, factual, drama, commercial or music videos, it would be great to get as many members to this important meeting to hear as many opinions as possible on how we best move forward as a committee.

As the Directors UK strapline says : “There may only be one of you, but together there are many of us.”
