Biography


Subbiah Nallamuthu
is an award-winning wildlife filmmaker from Chennai, India. He  worked as a high-speed cameraman with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). He has won several national & international awards including four times winner of the prestigious Indian National Film Awards.

He has worked with  from Doordarshan to National Geographic Channel and BBC, and has shot India’s longest-running Panda Award-winning Environment series, His oeuvre includes the firsts of many: the travel show , an automobile show ’Wheels and reality show ‘Hospital’ for BBC, ’Soul Searching' & ’Body Shock Specials‘ for Channel 4, ‘Life Force II' —India Section for Discovery, Hindi feature film titled ‘Dharm‘ in full HD for theatrical release, and one of the first to use 4K resolution for wildlife filming in India.

His passion for the Royal Bengal Tiger has translated into five tiger-centric international documentaries for National Geographic Channel and BBC, which he has produced, filmed and directed. His ability to add a theatrical touch to factual storytelling and his technical skills combined with a poetic visual style gives a unique perspective to his wildlife films.

He is a regular peer Jury member of the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival. Recently Nallamuthu was the Jury Chairman of the prestigious 52nd Indian Panorama Film Festival 2021.
