Biography

I’m a Bahraini born London-based freelance director who began his career in television, directing shows at MTV in the early 2000s, working steadily for all the major broadcasters across this period.

In 2004 I moved over to music videos and commercials, directing videos for artists including Arctic Monkeys - “I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor” and “Brianstorm”, the latter of which being entered in 2018 into the BFI’s Film Archive as one of the most significant British music videos of all time.

In commercials, my first ever commercial for Samsung won the Best New Commercials Director at the British Television Advertising Craft Awards, and I have continued directing commercials consistently for a variety of clients from Mastercard to Coca Cola, PlayStation and Youtube.

Other high profile work has been music videos for Paolo Nutini’s “Iron Sky” as well as working with Michael Kiwanuka on his music video for “Love & Hate” and a live film to promote his album “Kiwanuka”.Other live work over the years has included concert films for artists ranging from Paul McCartney to Sleaford Mods.

I have also directed a number of self funded documentary shorts, including “A Life Like Water”, a film about my 80 year old immigrant father, showcased by Nowness and Vimeo. In November 2020, my first dramatic short “Brothers”, that I also wrote, was released with the unprecedented support of Studiocanal UK and the mental health charity CALM.

My commissioned drama short for CBBC “Listen, Dad” aired in April 2021, for their strand “Snaps” which aims to tell stories from minority children’s points of view, written and directed by minority creatives.
